Do you feel that your coping strategies no longer work for you, and that life’s daily demands have become overwhelming?
Or, perhaps you experience intense grief, guilt, self-criticism, or an urge to escape?
You could be feeling threatened, angered and confused, or think that people cannot be trusted?
I am a qualified psychotherapist, counsellor and registrant member of the National Hypnotherapy Society who can offer you the confidential, empathetic and non-judgemental support that you are looking for.
I am an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, and a certified hypnotherapist working within the ethical framework of the NCPS and MHS, of which I am a member.
My decision to become a therapist was rooted in having a genuine understanding and compassion for human suffering. I am familiar with physical and psychological adversity, which increased my capacity to empathise and provide a safe space for my clients to talk about what they are going through without fear, or shame.
The client’s knowledge of their own Self is central to the therapeutic alliance we are going to build together to tackle the challenges they are facing. I invite the client to express their preferences about the direction and intensity of the therapy, goals, progress, and most importantly, about what they think would help them to find new ways of managing their difficulties.
My part in the therapeutic journey is to encourage the client to have a voice, to re-discover, embrace, and connect with their true potential, with their intuitive and creative side, awakening their self-healing capacity. The client may decide to do this through intentional self-care and self-compassion, or through exploration and evaluation of current and past events, behaviours, and relationships. Or, they may choose to re-train their unconscious mind to retain and retrieve information at will, to relax whenever they want, or to replace self-defeating beliefs and patterns of behaviour through hypnotherapy.
My pluralistic orientation enables me to consider the client’s difficulties from psychodynamic, humanistic/person-centred and cognitive behavioural perspectives. As such, my sessions may involve revisiting childhood memories, exploration of dreams and unconscious narratives, experimenting with new responses to situations, role-play, visualisation, mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy, and provision of psychoeducation.
